Delaware County Joins World Tai Chi Day April 25 with a Celebration

Delaware County residents are invited to come out for World Tai Chi Day Saturday, April 25, starting 10 AM, at the Roosevelt Community Center in Media.

Delaware County residents can experience a quiet but powerful moment with people across the globe on Saturday, April 25, for the county’s first-ever World Tai Chi Day celebration in Media.

The free, family-friendly event begins at 10 AM at the Roosevelt Community Center, 464 S. Old Middletown Road, in Media.

Leading the local celebration is Tommy Lugo, founder of Integrated Kung Fu & Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Media, in partnership with Middletown Township and the University Systems of Martial Arts Organization.

The annual worldwide event is observed in more than 80 countries.

Since its founding in 1999, World Tai Chi and Qigong Day has united people through synchronized movement, mindfulness, and shared intention under the theme “One World … One Breath.”

The Tai Chi Day celebration in Middletown welcomes everyone—regardless of age or experience, inviting residents to explore the benefits of Tai Chi.

“This is about connection, movement, and balance,” Lugo says. “You don’t need experience—just show up, follow along, have fun,  and breathe.”

The event will feature guided movements, breathing exercises, and guest demonstrations designed to introduce participants to Tai Chi’s many benefits, including improved balance, relaxation, focus, and overall well-being.

More than just a wellness activity, the event offers something deeper: a chance for the community to slow down and reconnect.

In a world that rarely pauses, this shared experience invites people to move together, breathe together, and simply be present.

Because sometimes, the most powerful thing a community can do… is take a breath—together.
