Norwegian Cruise Line Lays Out Temporary Plans for Cruise Launch

Passengers will check in a at a hotel for their April 16 cruise aboard the Norwegian Jewel, and shuttled to the ship.

Passengers for the Norwegian Jewel cruise sailing April 16 out of Philadelphia will use the Clarion Hotel near Philadelphia International Airport to check in, since the new PhilaPort cruise terminal in Tinicum is still under construction, writes Lissa Poirot for Cruisehive.

Guests will then be shuttled to and from the Clarion Hotel to the ship docked at the pier for embarkation and disembarkation.

Norwegian Cruise Line had expected the new terminal to be open and ready to welcome guests for its first sailings out of the Philadelphia region in 2026 when it added the Tinicum location as a new homeport.

But the cruise terminal faced construction delays.

“As we partner closely with PhilaPort to prepare the new facility, progress on the permanent terminal has taken longer than anticipated due to adverse weather conditions that impacted the area this winter,” NCL stated in a message to guests explaining the changes.

The cruise ship is scheduled for a 7-night cruise to Bermuda and Charleston, South Carolina.

It’s not known at the moment when the new PhilaPort terminal will open.

The Norwegian Jewel will homeport there through October 2026.
