Delaware County Gains Major Travel Option with Tinicum Cruise Terminal

The new cruise terminal being built in Tinicum will give Delaware County some major travel options.

The PhilaPort Cruise Terminal, currently under construction in Tinicum, is set to offer Delaware County families a convenient new travel option close to home, writes Teri West for Travel Weekly.

Norwegian Cruise Line will begin operating from the new terminal next to Philadelphia’s airport when it opens in April, with the Norwegian Jewel arriving as the first cruise ship at the port in 15 years. The line will homeport in Philadelphia through March 2033 and offer 41 sailings annually.

“We are extremely excited to be the first cruise line to commence cruising again from Philadelphia after so many years,” said Daniel Farkas, chief development officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

Travelers will be able to set sail on the 2,368-passenger Norwegian Jewel starting in April, with seven- and nine-day itineraries that will include overnight stops in Bermuda and a visit to Charleston, S.C. In the fall, the ship will transition to 10- and 11-day Canada and New England cruises. The Norwegian Pearl will homeport in Philadelphia beginning in November, offering cruises to Bermuda and the Caribbean.
