Walkability and Commuter Access Make Drexel Hill Ideal for Families

The historic Swedish Cabin in Drexel Hill is a historic site that's easy to walk to.

With its outdoor amenities, highly regarded schools, and family-oriented community culture, Drexel Hill ranks among the top places in Delaware County to raise a family, writes Emily Patterson for The Ritz Herald.

A key advantage of the suburban community is its walkable, neighborhood-focused design, with about 94 percent of residents able to access a park within a ten-minute walk. The integration of local shops, restaurants, gyms, parks, and schools into the residential grid further strengthens connectivity and community.

Woven through the community and extending into Philadelphia, SEPTA trolley lines and regional rail give residents a direct commuter connection that is not often found in many other suburban areas.

Drexel Hill also has numerous trails throughout the town, including the Darby Creek Trail, which provides runners and walkers with a natural corridor through local neighborhoods. Pilgrim Park spans about 50 acres of wooded terrain, while those seeking longer excursions can head to Ridley Creek State Park, just 15 minutes away and covering more than 2,600 acres.

As an added benefit, Drexel Hill offers a price point well below that of comparable suburban communities in neighboring counties, along with shorter commutes to Philadelphia.
