The new owners of the Crozer-Chester Medical Center talked with residents April 14 at a standing-room-only meeting at Widener University about the future of the campus.
That future, phased in over three years, includes a smaller campus better tuned to modern healthcare practices, with an expansion of outpatient services and behavioral healthcare facilities, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.
Crozer-Chester has been vacant for nearly a year. The loss has left the county without critical medical facilities, particularly in the Chester–Upland area.
Short-term, Yoel Polack, CEO of Chariot Allaire, announced plans to open a primary care practice on the Crozer-Chester campus within nine months or sooner, through a collaboration with the Independence Blue Cross Foundation, Widener and Neumann Universities, the Delaware County Health Department, and ChesPenn.
Long-term, the plan is to partner with a not-for-profit health system, “one that you know and trust, to operate the system,” Pollack said.
The CEO said they are seeking community input on what services would be best for the site.
“Our goals are aligned with yours,” Polack said. “We have put a tremendous amount of resources, money, time, and effort into the success of this facility and project.”
