Many Americans find themselves struggling financially as they cope with rising prices, writes Adam McCann for WalletHub.
“As a result, it’s extremely important to have good budgeting skills in order to make sure all your essential expenses get paid while still leaving room for saving, debt payoff, and at least a few ‘wants’ to maintain your mental health,” said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo.
WalletHub analyzed more than 2,800 counties across the nation to see which counties’ residents practice the strongest budgeting habits.
The analysis looked at the percentage of households without a bank account, the credit card delinquency rate, and the share of households with zero net worth.
Delaware County fell just below the middle on its budgeting skills, ranking 45th on a scale from 1 to 100.
They were 761st out of 2,830 counties on savings and financial assets, and 2,249th on debt or delinquencies.
Chester County residents were in the top tier for budgeting skills, placing 93rd nationally.
Bucks County residents also placed well for budgeting success, at 92nd nationally.
Montgomery County residents ranked 84th nationally for budgeting success.
Philadelphia came in 7th nationally for budgeting success.
