Freedom Village at Brandywine residents demonstrated their commitment to giving back this February through two resident-led fundraising initiatives benefiting employees and local nonprofit organizations.

The community’s scholarship committee held a donut sale, selling 300 donuts and raising $800. Proceeds will fund scholarships awarded later this year to qualifying Freedom Village employees, helping support their continued education and professional development.

Additionally, the community’s outreach committee hosted its annual bake sale, featuring four large tables filled with donated baked goods from residents. The sale included cupcakes, cookies, breakfast breads, cookbooks, and more — with several contributions coming from residents who were professional chefs during their careers.

Funds raised by the outreach committee will benefit eight local organizations serving Coatesville and Chester County, including Youth Initiative of Coatesville, Chester County Food Bank, and Chester County Connect Care.

Both the scholarship committee and outreach committee are fully run by Freedom Village residents.

“We are incredibly proud of our residents and their commitment to supporting our employees and investing in organizations that strengthen the greater Chester County community,” said Danielle Geyer, executive director of Freedom Village at Brandywine. “Giving back is at the heart of who we are, and February showcased that spirit in a meaningful way.”

Freedom Village at Brandywine is a continuing care retirement community in Pennsylvania, managed by Life Care Services. The community offers a full continuum of care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing.
