Yum Grills is looking to set up shop at 934 Main Street in Darby Borough, writes Emma Dooling in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
It’s one of 120 new fast food concept locations in Greater Philadelphia set for expansion by a Cherry Hill real estate developer and former convenience store franchisee.
Yum Grills serves smash burgers, loaded fries, cheesesteaks, wings, and chicken with rice.
Eighty percent of the building will have the restaurant, while 20 percent will sell convenience store items. There will also be gas pumps.
Developer Shamikh Kazmi hopes to expand Yum Grills to 200 locations within two years with a $60 million investment across the Philadelphia area.
Each Yum Grills location will employ about 18 people, including full- and part-time workers.
Kazmi said the focus is on fresh and locally sourced meat in “elegantly designed” restaurants in high-visibility locations.
“As the craving for these fast-food restaurants started really growing, we’ve just seen a ton of gap between what it should be versus what it is, and Yum Grills is really designed to close that gap,” he said.
Kazmi was a 7-Eleven and Circle K franchisee. He divested those locations to work on his own concept.
