Video production crews were recently working outside the Llanerch Diner in Upper Darby and caught the attention of commuters driving past the location, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Local News.

The diner, on Township Line Road near West Chester Pike, became famous from a scene in the movie Silver Linings Playbook in which actors Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper sat in one of the diner’s booths.

As about two dozen crew members milled around the diner’s parking lot, no one seemed to know exactly what was taking place. Flood lights and film equipment filled the parking lot and actors could be seen moving around inside the diner, including sitting in the booth used in Silver Linings Playbook, which is now marked with a special placard and has attracted fans from all over.

Employees at Rapco Car Repair next door were told crews would be filming a commercial but had no other information.

“Everything is so secretive,” said Shawna Hilton, a waitress at the diner for 15 years who was seen leaving the restaurant. She did, however, say that “there is a football player there.”
