The Veterans Resource Fair in Montgomery County is designed to be an opportunity for veterans to build meaningful connections, learn about Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs), and discover organizations that can accelerate their professional and personal success.
Veterans transitioning from military service to civilian life often face a complex landscape of career, education, and support resources. To help bridge that gap, the Veterans Resource Fair will bring together organizations dedicated to empowering those who have served, all in one accessible, community-focused event.
A Collaborative Effort to Serve Veterans
Among the numerous participating organizations will be the Delaware Valley Veterans Consortium and Great Careers Networking. Yes, I will be there on double duty, representing two organizations.
The Delaware Valley Veterans Consortium (DVVC)
The DVVC plays a critical role in supporting veterans by facilitating collaboration among organizations, employers, and service providers.
Their mission: Unite military and veteran service organizations and advocates who share common goals, to build programmatic capacity and increase services to clients under the umbrella of regional collaboration.
The DVVC is an “organization of organizations,” similar to a chamber of commerce, focused on collaboration, referrals, and knowledge sharing.
They currently represent over 140 Veteran- and Military-serving member organizations in their directory, and organizations can join for free. Check the calendar for upcoming events.
Great Careers Networking
Great Careers Network is a 501(c)3 volunteer-run nonprofit based in Chester County in Paoli, dedicated to networking, career education, and professional development for job seekers, employed, self-employed, veterans, and students who want to land a job, improve their personal brand, get tips to enhance their business, advance in their career, learn some tech tools, and more.
We provide practical career support to veterans so they can translate their military experience into marketable career documents and strategies through our small-group support meetings.
The 18-25 monthly events are not just open to veterans, but are meant for every career professional who wants to learn and network to confidently articulate their skills and stand out in today’s competitive environment.
If anyone wants to sponsor a membership for a veteran in need of career support, an auto-generated tax-deductible receipt will be generated from Givebutter.
Why LinkedIn Matters for Veterans
One of the most valuable tools veterans can use at a resource fair is LinkedIn. LinkedIn serves as a professional networking platform where veterans can:
- Connect immediately with employers and organizations they meet.
- Showcase military experience in a civilian-friendly format.
- Join veteran-focused professional groups.
- Discover job opportunities aligned with their skills.
LinkedIn Premium for Veterans
Many veterans may not realize they can receive 1 year of free LinkedIn Premium through LinkedIn’s Veteran Program, but the program’s website currently notes it is in transition and to check back for updates.
Nonetheless, anyone can create a free account on LinkedIn and connect easily in the app via a QR code.
Who Do We Thank for This Resource Fair?
State Representative Steven Malagari from the 53rd District of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives is hosting this event on Saturday, February 21st, from 10 AM – 1 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main Street in Lansdale. You must register in advance.
A Community Commitment to Those Who Served
The Veterans Resource Fair is a powerful example of what happens when a local leader brings together community organizations to collaborate in supporting those who have served our country.
By bringing together trusted groups like the Delaware Valley Veterans Consortium and Great Careers Networking, the event provides veterans with a clear pathway to opportunity, connection, and long-term career success.
Veterans, transitioning service members, and military families are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the resources available.
