Work Continues on Llanerch Country Club Upgrades in Havertown

Nave Newell outlined its plans for upgrades at the Llanerch Country Club.

Nave Newell Engineers outlined upcoming projects at the Llanerch Country Club in Havertown to replace a 70-year-old pool and upgrade the driving range and short-game practice areas.

The company has done past Llanerch work on clubhouse improvements, a dining area expansion, and adding an outdoor bar and grill, writes Jim Bannon, PE for Nave Newell.

In this latest project, parking lots will also be improved with new separations between cars, golf carts, and pedestrians.

The company has obtained zoning relief from parking and buffer requirements and received the necessary township approvals last spring.

It also helped the country club substantially reduce construction costs by successfully arguing that it could avoid installing over 1,000 linear feet of curbing and sidewalk along the adjacent PennDOT roadway.

Nave Newell is coordinating with Llanerch and their construction manager, Freedom Enterprise, Inc., to do a phased construction that won’t interrupt member use of the clubhouse, parking, golf course, tennis courts, and pool.

For the pool work, the pool will be closed the day after Labor Day, when everything will be demolished. Work will be done over the next eight months, with plans to reopen by the following Memorial Day.
