Built in 1898, Grey Towers Castle on Arcadia University campus is one of Pennsylvania’s most striking buildings, with more than 50 gargoyles and a mirror room, reports Tom Kretschmer for 6abc.
Grey Towers Castle was once among the largest private residences in the nation, and today it is a home for some lucky students.
“Even just looking at it, it’s a castle in the middle of Pennsylvania,” said Molly Russom, a senior at Arcadia University. “It’s beautiful.”
Arcadia has owned the building since 1929.
“As a student, it’s an integral part of your time here at Arcadia,” said Russom. “There’s not only admissions here, there’s general offices too where our provost is and our president. There’s also residents on the third floor.”
The building is a place where many students cen go to study or to simply enjoy their surroundings. Grey Towers Castle also often hosts various events.
“When you think of college, you think of the classic, like, square bedroom with two roommates, and you’re just kind of in that singular space,” said Russom. “Here, you have the option of living in a castle.”
