Di Bruno Bros. Closing Wayne Store Along with 2 Others

The Wayne Di Bruno Bros. store is closing, along with a store in Ardmore and Center City.

Di Bruno Bros. is closing its Wayne gourmet market along with its Ardmore and Center City stores as part of a “refocusing,” writes Denali Sagner and Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Closing dates were not available from Wakefern Food Corp., a supermarket cooperative that acquired the Di Bruno’s brand in 2024.

However, staff at the Wayne store in the Strafford Shopping Center were notified their store would shut down Feb. 11.

Another location in Suburban Square, Ardmore, will shut down Feb. 4, according to its employees. A third store at the Franklin Residences on Ninth Street in Center City also has a Feb. 11 closing date.

The Di Bruno’s Wayne store opened in 2021. The Ardmore store opened in 2011, and the Center City store opened in 2013.

Di Bruno’s original location on Ninth Street in South Philadelphia and a two-level store at 18th and Chestnut Streets will stay open.

Wakefern spokesperson Maureen Gillespie said in a statement that Di Bruno’s wants to focus on its flagship stores at the Italian Market and Rittenhouse locations, as well as “growing online business.”

Jobs will be offered to every retail employee, said Sandy Brown, executive vice president of Di Bruno’s parent company, Brown’s Super Stores.
