Community Legal Services will be relocating from its longtime home next year as it recently signed a new 13-year lease at a new location, writes Paul Schwedelson for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
After having 1424 Chestnut Street as its home for the past 30 years, Community Legal Services will be moving to a new 32,500-square-foot space two blocks away at 123 S. Broad Street in mid-2026.
Upon its move, the Philadelphia nonprofit will get the entire fourth floor and a portion of the fifth floor for its more than 100 employees. This will be a slight decrease in space from its current office.
Brenda Marrero, Community Legal Services’ COO, said the decrease is due to a more efficient design and the nonprofit’s desire for more modern office space.
Despite being nearly 100 years old, the S. Broad Street building was renovated in 2022 after owner SSH Real Estate invested $10 million to create 21,500 square feet of amenity space. This included lounges for office tenants, a conference center, a roof deck, fitness center, and bicycle storage.
“This is a space that is going to be so welcoming to our clients and make our clients and staff feel like they’re working in dignified space,” Marrero said.
