Havertown’s Al Pastor Restaurant Is Closed; New Business on the Way

Havertown’s popular Mexican restaurant Al Pastor closed Jan. 7 after two years to make way for a new business opening at 13 W. Benedict Ave., writes Max Bennett for Patch.

Joe Monnich, co-owner of Al Pastor’s parent restaurant group Stove & Co., said the community will be thrilled with what replaces the eatery.

“We’ve cared about this neighborhood and are proud to have offered our amazing guests a space to slow down the day and have some fun. Working at a restaurant becomes like a little family, and we’re so glad to have had the best staff as part of ours,” read a restaurant Facebook message.

The restaurant closure wasn’t due to low sales or anything negative, Monnich said. A local resident approached them in December with an offer to buy the building and business that was too good to pass up.

Mexican food will continue to be served, but it won’t be a sit-down space; the community will be pleased with what’s coming, Monnich said.

Stove & Co. still has an Exton Al Pastor location, and Al  Pastor Havertown gift cards can be used at any Stove & Co. restaurant.
