Popular Wild Yeast Bakehouse in Wayne Moves to Eagle Village

Several loaves of sourdough bread made at the Wild Yeast Bakehouse in Rosemont.

John Goncher of Radnor is moving his popular Wild Yeast Bakehouse to a commercial artisanal bakery at the Eagle Village Shops in Wayne next year, writes Max Bennett for Patch.

The bakery specializes in sourdough bread loaves. It has been operating for five years out of Goncher’s home, with the loaves also appearing at local farmers’ markets.

He’s looking at a spring 2026 opening at the new 1,468 square-foot space.

Wild Yeast Bakehouse began in 2021 when the former corporate finance professional was looking for a life change and took up bread making out of his home during the pandemic.

These days, he’s got about 240 subscribers receiving fresh bread deliveries, along with wholesale and farmers’ market sales.  He covers a 5-square-mile region on the Main Line.

Despite his move to a commercial property, the bread will stay simple, healthy, and high-quality, he said.

Goncher uses local grains, ancient grains, spelt, seeds, dried fruits, and butter in his products..

“It’s kind of a wellness-joy business,” he said of Wild Yeast Bakehouse. “People like the bread because it tastes good, it’s nostalgic, and it’s healthy.”
