The Riegelsville Bridge, which remains in use today and links Pennsylvania to New Jersey, was designed by the engineers who built the Brooklyn Bridge.
Thanks to its strong connection to the Delaware Canal, Riegelsville attracts many visitors.
The Delaware Canal Towpath runs through the town, giving access to miles of walking and cycling routes. Stretching about 60 miles from Easton to Bristol, the trail is part of Delaware Canal State Park.
The area offers numerous ways to enjoy the natural landscape, including the towpath, a large pond and several river islands.
Canoeing on the Delaware River is a favorite pastime, providing mostly flatwater conditions and an easy-to-moderate challenge.
Mariton Wildlife Sanctuary, which is located nearby, has prime spots for birdwatching and expansive views of the surrounding valley.
Within Riegelsville, the Riegelsville Inn has welcomed guests since 1838, functioning as both a restaurant and a pub and offering homemade American dishes. The town also features a variety of historic homes and churches.
