Philadelphia Art Museum to Unveil New Exhibit Showcasing Iconic Rocky Statue

The Philadelphia Art Museum's new exhibition, "Rising Up: Rocky and the Making of Monuments," will debut April 25, 2026.

The Philadelphia Art Museum will be debuting a new exhibit in April that will feature the Rocky statue at the forefront, writes Cherise Lynch for NBC10 Philadelphia.

Rising Up: Rocky and the Making of Monuments is the name of the new exhibition.

The exhibition’s unveiling will be just in time for the 50th anniversary of the original Rocky movie’s release.

It will feature more than 150 pieces by over 50 artists and artifacts that span more than 2,000 years.

In addition, organizations say that the exhibit will explore how monuments are created and reshaped by artists, communities, and the passage of time.

“This show is a testament to the vitality and passion of Philadelphia’s arts, culture, and sports communities. Rising Up explores the city’s relationship to its many statues, the artists who create them, and the many neighborhoods where these statues exist,” said Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker.

Another notable element includes the exhibit’s highlighting of often-overlooked stories behind public statues. This includes Philadelphia’s boxing legends, immigrant neighborhoods, and ongoing debates over the future of shared spaces.

The exhibit will be on display for more than three months, from April 25 to Aug. 2, 2026.
