A Nether Providence resident is trying to figure out why a man dropped off a large cash delivery in her mailbox.
Police are looking for information about a man who showed up one morning before 11 AM Dec. 6 in front of a South Providence Road home, pacing back and forth before opening the mailbox, placing something inside, then walking away, writes Dugan Arnett for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The homeowner witnessed the incident, and when she investigated, she found “a significant amount of cash,” according to Nether Providence police.
The man appeared to be between 20 and 30 years old, around 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and balding. He wore a black puffer jacket.
A spokesperson for the Nether Providence police on Thursday described the incident as an “open investigation.”
The home was once a psychiatrist’s office, according to the homeowner. The money could have been left by a former patient, unaware the psychiatrist was no longer there, she speculated.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 610-892-2875.
“NPPD is urging anyone with information to come forward as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the cash drop-off and identify the individual involved,” according to the department news release.
