Customers, Staff at Barnaby’s of Havertown Remember Owner Bill Daley

Customers and staff are remembering Bill Daley, owner of Barnaby's in Delaware and Chester Counties, who died Nov. 26.

Bill Daley, the longtime owner of Barnaby’s Restaurants in Delaware and Chester Counties,  was remembered by customers and staff at the Barnaby’s of Havertown as a strong leader and a kind man who quickly brought his Havertown restaurant and bar back to life after a devastating fire, reports Connor Barton for KYW Newsradio.

William J. “Bill” Daley, of Broomall and Ocean City, NJ, died Nov. 26 at age 82.

He often energized a room with his presence, inspiring those around him with his zest for life, according to his obituary.

“His vision, creativity, and unwavering passion helped shape Barnaby’s into the warm, welcoming place our community knows and loves,” stated a poster on the Barnaby’s Aston Facebook page.

Dan Hurst, managing partner at the Barnaby’s Havertown location, described Daley as “hands-on.”

“He had a big family, and he really liked being involved in the local community,” Hurst said.

He particularly recalls Daley’s leadership when a fire nearly destroyed the Havertown restaurant in 2017.

“We kept everything going. We kept all the employees paid. They were able to reopen in four months,” he said.

Daley created Barnaby’s of Havertown as a sports bar back in 1997, when it was called Barnaby’s of America.
