Annie Actresses Talk About Their Experience at Media Theatre

Actress Violet Roche (left), Annie director Hannah Catanoso (center) and actress Faye Lorena Stockmal talk about their experiences working on the Media Theatre's production of Annie.

The newest production of Annie is on stage now at the Media Theatre, running through Jan. 4.

Two young actresses who are sharing the role of Annie talked about their experiences on NBC’s 10’s Philly Live.

“Annie has always been like a dream role for me, since like, third grade,” said 13-year-old Violet Roche about auditioning for Annie.  She was offered the role on her birthday, which made it particularly exciting.

Annie is an optimistic, tough girl, “and I can really relate with her,” Roche said.

Faye Lorena Stockmal said she loved dancing with the Daddy Warbucks character, but her favorite song is “Tomorrow.”

“I get to be center stage, and I get to play with the dog,” she said.

The two girls became close friends while working on the show, as they supported each other on stage.

“Annie” Director Hannah Catanoso described directing the show and working with the two young actresses as “amazing” and “completely fulfilling.”

The production has 16 adult members in the cast, 19 orphans, and one dog, “so it’s been completely fulfilling and high energy,” she said.

Catanoso is herself an adoptee, so it was a special experience to tell Annie’s story, she said.
