DELCO Today, part of the American Community Journals (ACJ) network, is looking for a Social Media Editor to help shape how hyperlocal news reaches people across Delaware County and the greater Delaware Valley.

This role sits at the center of our daily publishing operation. Facebook is one of our most important platforms for both reach and revenue, and we’re looking for someone who understands how to manage it thoughtfully, responsibly, and at scale.

As Social Media Editor, you’ll oversee day-to-day social media operations across ACJ’s five county platforms, including DELCO Today.

You’ll manage a small network of interns who handle daily posting, ensure consistency and quality across pages, and protect the trust we’ve built with our readers.

You’ll also take ownership of affiliate partner posting and help ensure monetized content is balanced, transparent, and audience-first.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys systems, not chaos. You’ll be reviewing posts, guiding interns, monitoring performance, and flagging opportunities or issues early, not chasing trends or posting just to post.

We’re especially interested in candidates with experience managing multiple Facebook Pages, ideally for media, publishing, or community-based brands.

A newsroom social editor, audience development lead, or Facebook-first strategist with a strong understanding of Facebook’s Content Monetization program would feel right at home here.

The ideal candidate for this position is:

  • A Facebook-first social media professional who understands how local stories travel and why audience trust matters
  • Experience managing multiple Facebook Pages, ideally for a media, publishing, or community-focused organization
  • Comfortable overseeing day-to-day posting while maintaining a clear, human, community-appropriate voice
  • Organized, reliable, and calm under pressure, with strong judgment around tone, timing, and sponsored or affiliate content
  • Enjoys mentoring and supporting interns, and thinks in systems and workflows, not one-off posts
  • Proactive about flagging issues early and protecting audience trust and platform integrity
  • Lives in and is deeply familiar with the Delaware Valley and the communities we serve, even though the role is remote

The Social Media Editor position can be structured as either:

  • A long-term contractor role (20–30 hours/week), or
  • A full-time position, depending on experience and fit.

If that’s you, if you understand Facebook as both a revenue generator and a content distribution engine, and if you want to help positive local news travel farther, we’d love to hear from you.

You should send a short note and either your resume or your LinkedIn profile to Kim McGuane at [email protected].
