The historic William Peters House in Chadds Ford which traces its roots back to before the Revolutionary War has hit the market for the first time in 60 years for $3.85 million, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The home was originally built in 1750 in Aston before it was relocated and reconstructed at its current location centuries later. The house was constructed using period-appropriate materials to replicate the original home.
Set on a beautiful 22-acre lot, the Georgian-style home spans more than 7,000 square feet. It belonged to the late Judith and John Herdeg, who acquired it in 1963 and moved it to Chadds Ford two years later.
They documented the whole process as well as the artifacts they collected and furnished it with in the book The Stories They Tell…from the Herdeg Collection.
The six-bedroom, five-bathroom home was added to the National Register in 1971. It boasts many gorgeous details, including nine wood-burning fireplaces and original wood paneling.
Some of the modern additions include covered porches, heated terracotta floors, and a 620-square-foot orangerie with high ceilings.
