Springfield Hospital Legal Action Over Repairs to Be Dismissed

Local Taylor Hospital investors KQT Aidens Partners 2 are now negotiating the purchase of Springfield Hospital.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Stacey G.C. Jernigan is pleased with the progress made between various parties to fix the closed Springfield Hospital, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

Springfield Township filed a September Common Pleas Court injunction against Prospect Medical Holdings Inc., the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County, Veritas Inc., which leases the parking garage, and The Foundation for Delaware County, forbidding them from using the facility until repairs were made and the property secured.

All parties were ordered to resolve their disputes, including security issues and the deteriorating condition of the facility, particularly the garage stairwell.

At the time, Prospect, the owner of Springfield Hospital, had filed for bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Northern District of Texas.

On Tuesday, Prospect attorney Anne Wallace told the bankruptcy court that a lot of progress had been made, with an agreement reached between Prospect, Springfield Township, and the Community YMCA.

“Parties are continuing to work consensually to ensure that the township is comfortable (and) the YMCA is comfortable,” she said.

Restorative Health Foundation and Syan Investments were named top bidders for Springfield Hospital in an Oct. 17 bankruptcy auction. A spokesman said the plan is to keep the property as a hospital.
