The Trains Are Back for Brandywine Museum’s Holiday Season

The holidays are on full display with model train railroad at the Brandywine Museum of Art.

A holiday tradition returns again this year to the Brandywine Museum of Art with its model train display, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6abc.

The holiday-themed model railroad has been entertaining museum crowds for decades.

“It’s such a special feeling to be able to pass on that joy of seeing children’s eyes light up at the holidays,” said Paul Hoener, Senior Railroad Model Specialist at the museum.

The model railroad display has been a family tradition since 1972.

“We’re always happy to have the people of Delaware Valley come in here and enjoy a little bit of holiday cheer,” Hoener said.

The trains run throughout the room, accompanied by twinkling Christmas lights, village scenes, and landscapes. There are also plenty of interactive buttons for kids to push.

There are at least eight trains running at any time, with over 200 cars running.

“No matter where you look, there’s something new to see,” he said.

A new exhibit this year,  “Home for the Holidays: Cards and Hearths from the Collection,” features Wyeth art and dollhouses.

There are also “critter” ornaments made by museum volunteers from natural items collected in the fields around the museum.

Holidays at Brandywine” runs until January 04, 2026.
