October is officially underway, and as fall begins to emerge, thoughts turn to pumpkins and haunted places.
Pumpkinland at Linvilla Orchards in Media, a Delaware County family favorite, is officially open daily. Visitors can walk through for free, though tickets are required for many of the activities. A range of pumpkins and other farm products is available for sale.
There’s a lot to do, including harvest hayrides, pick-your-own apples, and fishing at Orchard Lake. There is a straw bale maze, a corn maze, and apple blasters, train rides, pony rides, and face painting.
In the evening, kids can enjoy a Hayride to the Witch’s House, and families can take an Autumn Moon Hayride.
There’s also a beer garden, food and snacks, a playground, barnyard, and Linvilla’s Farm Market.

For pumpkin picking, visit the Arasapha Farm, 1835 Middletown Road in Glen Mills. There’s also a hayride and a corn maze, among many other attractions.
The farm is open weekends through Oct. 26, 10 AM to 4 PM.
Indian Orchards Farm at 29 Copes Lane in Media has apple and pumpkin picking. There’s also a variety of fresh produce available for sale. The farm is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Delaware County Haunted Attraction
Delaware County’s premier haunted destination is back for another season, writes Samantha Geiger, Claire Chmiel, Ben Silver, and Anne E. Hil for Main Line Today.
Bates Motel, at the Arasapha Farm,1835 N. Middletown Road in Glen Mills, features its annual Haunted Hayride and the Revenge of the Scarecrows Haunted Corn Trail, residing next to the Bates Motel haunted house.
This attraction has been named the “Best Haunted House in America” by CNN Travel.
All three activities and more are open now through Nov. 2, weeknights through 9:30 PM, and weekend nights through 10:30 PM.
It’s going to be crowded, so advance timed tickets are recommended.
