Missing Love Letters From Havertown Couple Find Their Way Home

Debi Mercuri found some missing love letters belonging to a Havertown couple in a book she picked up in a little library stand at Merwood Park.

Love letters between a Havertown husband and wife that disappeared years ago have been found by a stranger and are being returned, reports Madeleine Wright for CBS News Philadelphia.

Debi Mercuri was walking with her 4-year-old granddaughter, Parker, through Merwood Park in Havertown. She stopped to pick up a book that was in a Little Free Library neighborhood box.

Inside were two handwritten love letters between Dan and Jennifer Cianciarulo.

“Being a hopeless romantic, I thought, oh, these are so beautiful. These are keepsakes. These are absolute keepsakes.” Mercuri said.

She sought out the owners by posting a photo of the letters on Facebook.

Jennifer Cianciarulo saw the post and recognized the handwriting.

The couple had donated the book during a basement cleanout, unaware that the letters were inside.

Dan and Jennifer are eager to get the letters back.

“I think it would be really fun, and it would be great for us,” Dan said. “It would be fun to share them with our kids, too.”

Mercuri looks forward to returning the letters in person and plans to give the couple a big hug.

“It renews my faith,” Mercuri said. “Fate, I just don’t think there are many coincidences in life.”
