A Roxborough couple whose story of love and resilience captured the hearts of the owners of Finley Catering has won a free wedding valued at more than $100,000.
The couple was selected from 1,000 entries in Finley Catering’s 50th Anniversary Free Wedding Giveaway.
The giveaway celebrates the Golden Anniversary of the catering business, which operates venues that include The Ballroom and Ivy at Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square.
Megan Barbieri and John Pearce will celebrate their wedding on Aug. 16, 2026, at Finley’s Union Trust in Philadelphia, the same date as Finley Catering’s 50th anniversary.
The couple has been together for three years and were surprised with the news during a special event on Oct. 17 at Union Trust.
“It’s absolutely life-changing and we’re so blessed and so thankful for everything that they’re giving away,” Megan said.
The 28-year-old registered nurse was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in April 2024, just before she and John planned to get engaged.
The couple met through mutual friends in 2022.
Megan was working as an ICU nurse at Jefferson when she got the diagnosis.
Everything changed for her.
“I started treatments, and John has been my absolute rock and has been with me through it all,” she said.
A couple of months after her diagnosis, John gave Megan his mother’s wedding ring, “and we’ve taken our vows in sickness and in health,” Megan said.
“Megan and John embody exactly what this giveaway was meant to celebrate — love, commitment, and community,” said Michelle Finley, co-owner of Finley Catering. “Their story reminds us that weddings are not just about one day, but about the life you build together.”
The couple’s wedding package includes full venue rental for up to 180 guests, custom gourmet catering and a premium open bar by Finley Catering, and a designer wedding cake from Finley’s preferred bakery partner.
The couple will also enjoy professional day-of coordination by Finley’s in-house event team, stunning floral design by Fabufloras, Entertainment by EBE, professional photography courtesy of Philip Gabriel Photography, videography by Allure Films, men’s suits by Sagets Formal Wear and custom lighting and décor enhancements throughout Union Trust.
The bride and her wedding party will also be treated to full beauty services on the day of the wedding provided by Joseph Anthony Retreat Spa & Salon.
