Chester County residents can explore the county’s most stunning estates through the upcoming Chester County Day Tour, writes staff for County Lines Magazine.
Set for Oct. 4, eighty-fourth annual house tour will showcase local architecture and interior design. From 10 AM to 5 PM, participants can get a glimpse inside historic and renovated homes in southwest Chester County.
The event is a project of the Women’s Auxiliary to Chester County Hospital. The longest-running home tour in the country, proceeds from the tour have amassed over $5 million for the hospital over its decades in operation.
Stops on the tour range from historic inns to converted springs houses to stone colonial residences.
One stop, Lucky Hill Farm in West Chester, includes a three-story country home built in 1721. The equestrian-inspired property also features a historic barn, spring house, and carriage house.
Dubbed the “VIP Stop,” the Longwood Residence in Kennett Square was built in 1746. The centuries-old property served as both a physician’s office and bed-and-breakfast before its purchase by the current owners, whose antique collection perfectly celebrates the home’s history.
On the more modern side, 120 East Ashbridge Street in West Chester boasts renovated interiors in a 1935 fieldstone home. Sunny interiors are complete with archways and curved transom.
General admission tickets for the Chester County Day Tour sell for $60. Additionally, box lunch orders will remain open through Sept. 30.
