Wawa has brought on a new partner, Relex Solutions, to help make sure its food is as fresh as possible, writes Rachel Gignac for CSP.
The Delaware County convenience store chain has partnered with Relex to help with inventory management and fresh food optimization.
Relex is a supply chain and inventory management company. Wawa will use Relex’s machine-learning forecasting and improve replenishment capabilities at its 1,100 stores.
The Relex system will help Wawa support its continued growth, automate manual processes, and reduce spoilage.
“We are impressed with Relex’s reputation in the convenience store and retail industry and their deep understanding of its complexities,” said Nelson Griffin, chief supply chain officer at Wawa.
.According to Griffin, the forecasting and replenishment process will help Wawa “maintain our high standards of product availability and freshness, ensuring we continue to exceed our customers’ expectations as we grow.”
Frank Lord, Chief Revenue Officer at Relex, welcomed Wawa on board.
“This partnership will leverage our joint expertise in convenience stores to yield measurable near-term results,” he said.
Relex, based in Atlanta, has a strong presence in the convenience store industry. It has also partnered with Wesco Inc., Muskegon, Michigan, Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., Laval, Quebec, Casey’s General Stores, Ankeny, Iowa, and more.
