Pennsbury High School Project Moves Forward Slowly After $269.5M Approval

Plans for the new Pennsbury High School are progressing slowly after the Pennsbury School Board approved a $269.5 million project cap.

After the Pennsbury School Board approved a $269.5 million project cap several weeks ago, plans for the new Pennsbury High School are progressing slowly, writes Lacey Latch for the Bucks County Courier Times.

A high-level overview of the proposal was presented to Falls Township officials on Tuesday night. Attorneys representing the project told Planning Commission members that the purpose of the meeting was not to hold a vote, but to gather feedback on a proposal that remains largely unchanged from the version that was shared earlier this year.

Of the approved $269.5 million project budget, just over $212.4 million is allocated specifically for school construction. Project architects KCBA said the new 497,000-square-foot facility is designed to accommodate up to 3,000 students. It is expected to open in September 2029.

The building will be constructed on the south side of the current campus. There will be separate areas for bus loops and student and staff parking.

Construction is expected to begin by the end of 2026. The existing high school buildings will remain operational throughout the duration of the project.
