$420,000. That’s the new record-setting median home sale price reached in the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area in July, according to the multiple listing service Bright MLS.
For that amount of money, you can buy a large Victorian twin home in Lansdowne, writes Michaelle Bond for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Using $420,000 as the purchase price, Bond compared three homes in the region—the Lansdowne home, a Moorestown rancher, and a newly constructed condo in Fishtown — to compare and contrast what that amount of money will buy in different areas.
Potential buyers liked the Lansdowne Victorians’ “very well-maintained and restored original character,” said Jessica Sinton, a real estate agent with Compass Real Estate.
The three-story 5-bedroom house at 58 E. Greenwood Ave. was built in 1920. It sits in a neighborhood of other Victorian homes in a historic district.
It has a porch, original stained-glass windows, high ceilings, refinished hardwood floors, pocket doors, built-in shelves, and a fireplace. The refinished bathroom has an original marble sink and a restored claw-foot tub.
Sinton described the property as “old-world charm meshing with modern conveniences.”
“It’s a really large twin. You almost never see a twin that size here,” in this area of Pennsylvania, Sinton said.
