Karate Kickers in Drexel Hill Bring Self-Defense Discipline to Kids

Karate Kickers in Drexel Hill teaches discipline and the art of self-defense.

For anyone who’s seen “Karate Kid,” it’s understood that karate is not used to attack, but to defend.

That point is also emphasized at Karate Kickers in Drexel Hill, where Sensei Gerald teaches children to avoid confrontation before they even have to defend themselves, reports Shaynah Ferreira for Fox 29 Philadelphia.

Gerald said he started karate at 16.

“I didn’t know where my life was going to go after high school,” he said.

He looked into computers and tried for UCLA. Then he turned his hobby of karate into a business.

“I opened up a business in 2012 and now I’m here,” he said.

Karate is more than just kicking and fast moves.  It teaches self-control and discipline. It teaches you how to stay out of trouble and use common sense for self-defense, said Gerald, who is a fourth-degree black belt and was a silver world medalist for WKC while on the USA team in 2023.

The program at Karate Kicker caters to all ages, from ages 5 to 15 and above.

Students leave class more confident and more disciplined, “just being a better individual, creating a better version of themselves,” Gerald said.
