A charming Wynnewood cottage dating back to 1878 that later became part of the Clothier family’s Ballytore estate is for sale at $1.8 million, writes Lisa Dukart for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The home is nestled across from the former Ballytore Castle, which is now home to St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Armenian Church.
The cottage was commissioned by Henry Morris, Clothier’s son-in-law, who designed it along with two other nearby houses in the Arts & Crafts style, inspired by his travels.
The cottage also has elements of the Tudor style, that can be seen in the upper portion of its exterior. It features stone on the bottom two-thirds, several large chimneys and decorative pots, and a portico over the entrance.
Inside, the home has undergone extensive updates creating a modern interior while preserving the character of the historic home, with its original six fireplaces and an exposed brick wall in the kitchen.
The three-story residence features a kitchen, dining area, and formal living room on the main floor, three bedrooms and two full baths on the second floor, and a media room with a home office on the garden level.
