As the Rose Tree Summer Festival‘s 50th season kicks off, new amenities await concertgoers at Rose Tree Park in Media, writes Justin Udo for KYW Newsradio.
Delaware County has poured more than $400,000 in renovations to the amphitheater, including a new roof, staging floor, and new ADA-compliant restrooms.
“We have new changing tables. We have new handwashing sinks, new toilets, new fixtures, and everything is energy efficient,” said Delaware County Public Works Director Danielle Floyd.
There have been no renovations in more than four decades, limiting the use of the amphitheater.
“We haven’t had dance performances in some time because the floors weren’t ones that could support that,” she said.
As always, the summer concert series promises a variety of shows, everything from rock to classic, to oldies, to current, Floyd said.
Performers include the Delaware County Symphony and Rose Tree Pops, the Fabulous Greaseband, Minas, and the Sensational Soul Cruisers.
The concerts are free with no rain dates and run Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., through Aug. 10.
Here’s a pdf of the concert schedule. Brochures are also available at Rose Tree Park, Delaware County Libraries, and in county office buildings.
