Pica’s in Upper Darby was set to close its 69-year location on West Chester Pike this summer as it downsizes and relocates.
That is no longer the case, writes Max Bennett for Marple Newtown Patch.
“We have decided to delay our closing to the fall,” according to a social media post from the Pica family that also appears on the restaurant’s website.
That means the dining room and takeout service will stay open at the Upper Darby location, 7803 West Chester Pike, through the summer months as the restaurant plans a new location in Broomall.
The post indicated that Pica’s had received approval for variances to open a new location in Broomall. A specific address and date of opening were not disclosed.
Pica’s also has a restaurant at 1233 West Chester Pike in West Chester.
The restaurant has been a Delaware County favorite for decades, known for its signature pan pizza and old-world Italian delicacies.

The restaurant grew out of a bread delivery route and Frank’s Pizzeria in West Philadelphia, started by Italian immigrant Frank Pica Sr.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this transition,” the post reads.
