A phone app developed by Media Borough native Robbie Verna and his mom, Wendy, generates a sense of community for users by finding ways to bring people together, writes Holly Quinn for Technical.ly.
The Let’s Rallie app, founded in 2021, is a new way for communities to connect and interact using event technology.
“We started it during COVID as a fun little startup,” Robbie, 29, told Technical.ly. “Since then, we have pivoted the business to our current business model with the same mission, to drive commerce to different neighborhoods.”
The platform lets users navigate to in-person community events by local organizations, nonprofits, and community groups across the Philadelphia region.
It features interactive elements like schedules, interactive custom event maps, push notifications, raffles, voting, and scavenger hunts.
Verna, now living in Philadelphia, developed the app from his appreciation for the city’s strong sense of community.
The app’s goal is to drive traffic to local businesses, supporting different neighborhoods while giving people an opportunity to explore new things.
Let’s Rallie is useful for organizations that want to integrate technology into their events.
Clients include The South 9th Street Italian Market, Manayunk Development Corporation, CampusPhilly, the New Jersey Tourism Association, and Harford County, Maryland.
