Scrub Daddy founder Aaron Krause, who amassed a fortune with a line of kitchen products he started in Folcroft, is now taking on hockey sticks, writes Alex Silverman for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Krause has acquired a majority stake in Tovi Hockey equipment company.
He aims to expand Tovi’s distribution and convince NHL players to use the product.
Scrub Daddy, now based in Pennsauken, New Jersey, successfully built itself up after the company received investor support on “Shark Tank.”
Krause now hopes to strike fire again in the world of hockey equipment. He invested in Tovi Hockey seven years ago and now serves as its executive chairman.
“We’ve been collectively looking for the holy grail investor and, well, I guess it turns out it’s me,” Krause said.
Tovi is a startup brand looking to innovate and acquire market share in the hockey equipment industry now dominated by Bauer and CCM.
Tovi’s signature product are its hockey sticks with carbon fiber blades and a proprietary tacky coating giving players a quicker release time, better control of the puck and greater durability.
Krause is a lifelong hockey player. His son, Bryce, plays for the University of Tampa.
