A recent study has found that two of the best Pennsylvania high schools for student athletes are local to Chester County, writes Joe Spears for USA Today High School Sports.
Niche, an academic resource database, included Conestoga High School and Downingtown West High School in the list of the twenty-five best schools for student athletes across the state.
Pennsylvania schools have a reputation for supporting students who go on to have a successful career in professional sports, with a majority of Niche’s ranking being local to southeastern Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia region. Conestoga and Downingtown West ranked twenty-second and nineteenth, respectively.
Niche produced the study by collecting data from the U.S. Department of Education and conducting surveys with both students and families. Factors included in the ranking included the number of sports offered, number of K-12 championships won by the school, total number of students enrolled in grades 9-12, and self-report data from students and families using a 1-5 rating scale.
Conestoga Senior High School, located in Berwyn, boasts a total of eighteen sports available to students. Downingtown West offers twenty-five, making them two of the best places for student athletes to flourish statewide.
