The Grilled Salmon Stand in Mount Airy has seen a major evolution from its early beginnings in 2018, writes Wendy Daughenbaugh for 6abc.
Owner and chef Andrew Abraham started the company with just a sidewalk table, a charcoal grill, and a cooler.
Initially, it was just a Friday and Saturday night operation.
“Rain, sleet, hail, snow, I stayed consistent,” Abraham said.
More recently, he managed to buy a food cart and a truck before moving into his new brick-and-mortar location on Germantown Avenue last year.
Salmon is the star of the show at the Grilled Salmon Stand.
Some menu items include the salmon steak, salmon cheesesteaks with shrimp, and salmon rice bowls with sauce.
However, it’s the salmon burger that Abraham credits for helping build the company into what it is today. There are currently four flavors of the burger: original, spinach feta, Korean BBQ, and cajun.
Abraham’s salmon concept was influenced by the time he previously worked at the Wells Fargo Center.
However, with his Mount Airy location, he has been able to expand his menu. Added items include quesadillas, alfredo, and the viral spinach feta salmon egg rolls.
Abraham hopes to someday return and open a Grilled Salmon Stand location inside Wells Fargo Center.
