For those looking for a little in-flight pampering, American Airlines is making 51 new premium seats available with doors for privacy, more storage space, and a wireless device-changing pad.
Passengers at Philadelphia International Airport are among the first to try out the new “Flagship Suite” seats that will be available on America’s new plane, the Boeing 787-9.
Travelers who book the new seats will also have access to the airline’s Flagship Lounge opening this summer at PHL, writes Ariana Perez-Castells for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“Every aspect of our new 787-9 is designed to feel premium in nature,” said Heather Garboden, the airline’s chief customer officer.
The new aircraft will depart PHL starting Aug. 6 to London and on Sept. 3 to Zurich.
The premium seats will also be available on flights from Chicago to London starting June 5, and from Dallas Fort Worth to Brisbane, Australia starting Oct. 26.
The airline expects to have 30 new 787-9 planes by 2029. All will have the new seating.
There are also plans in the next few years to increase its premium economy section by 50 percent, as well as having more seats that can lay flat.
