Muhammad Abdul-Hadi, owner of Philadelphia’s Down North Pizza, a shop committed to reducing recidivism, is coming to New Hope on Saturday to sign copies of his cookbook, We The Pizza: Slangin’ Pies and Savin’ Lives, and offer a taste of his popular pizza, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
The event, that has been organized in collaboration with Farley’s Bookshop, will be held at Manoff Market Cidery from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy fresh pies from Down North Pizza and local cider while meeting Abdul-Hadi and members of his team. Signed copies of the cookbook will be sold through Farley’s.
“We’re excited for Saturday,” said Abdul-Hadi. “It’s not just about great food, but community, opportunity and telling our story. With strawberry season here, we’ve got some special treats lined up – strawberry lemonade and of course our pies.”
The book is filled with poignant stories and 65 recipes for award-winning pizza, wings, and more from the author’s shop.
“This cookbook is more than recipes,” said Abdul-Hadi. “It’s about resilience, second chances, and the impact of good food.”
