More than 20 dancers from Dance Ground in Newtown took the stage at the 2025 Chita Rivera Awards on Monday, showing off their skills on Broadway’s biggest dance stage, reports Christie Ileto for 6abc.
The awards are Broadway’s most prestigious celebration of dance and choreography.
“And it’s actually been pretty amazing,” said Liz Jovovich, Managing Director at Dance Ground.
Being selected for the event is a huge honor, but Jovovich knew that there was a lot of work ahead of them. In seven and a half weeks, award-winning siblings Andreas Jovovich and Priscilla Garner choreographed an original number set to the song Another Day of Sun from La La Land.
The dance closed the awards ceremony.
“So we wanted something more exciting and also something that made you want to choreograph,” said Andreas Jovovich. Something that made you “inspired to move to the music.”
Each year, only one studio gets the chance to perform at the awards. This year, the young Bucks County dancers took to the stage alongside Broadway icons and rising stars.
“You want to show your best work,” said Garner. “It means more than I think people can even understand.”
