A 16-year-old girl’s quick thinking and the kind intervention of two shop owners saved her from a potential stalker in Ridley Park, writes Sean Neumann for People Magazine.
Ariana MacMillan and her mother, Christina Pino, revisited the story on Good Morning America Friday, April 25.
A strange man holding a large liquor bottle approached Ariana shortly before 7 PM Tuesday night, April 22, in Ridley Park.
He ran up to her, making “inappropriate” comments before pushing her and telling her they needed to start walking.
She saw a sign in a yard about someone named Rachel, so when she saw a nearby store and one of the owners, Tina Moss, standing outside, she yelled, ”Aunt Rachel, is that you?”
The shop owners, Tina and Bill Moss, saw the teen was in trouble and played along.
“It distracted whatever that gentleman was trying to do,” said Pino.
Ariana went into the store. The owners locked the door and called police. The man was detained and later charged with stalking and harassment.
“We’re parents…we just own a store in our town. So we want to make sure our town is safe, and we’re here for you,” Bill told WPVI.
