There’s a lot of basketball in the lives of sisters Molly and Megan Rullo.
At age 6 and 7, they watched their father, Jim, coach Malvern Prep, when they weren’t going to games at Drexel with their mother, Maureen, writes Isabella DiAmore for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
They grew up with basketball stories about their late grandparents, Jerry and Eileen Rullo, and about their parents, who played basketball at Drexel.
It made them want to play and carry on the Rullo legacy, a feat they’ve achieved at Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield.
They’re both standouts at Cardinal O’Hara. Molly, a senior, and Megan, a junior, won a PIAA Class 6A championship last year, the team’s third title in four years.
Megan is out for this season with a torn right ACL. She still cheers on the team and her sister, who scored more than 1,000 points this season.
Soon enough, both sisters plan to play for the Drexel Dragons, like their parents.
“Just being able to take part in everything that they’ve got to experience, but also creating a name for ourselves and creating memories for ourselves, too,” Molly said.
