Kismet Bagels has been in operation for about five years and with four existing locations, that number is expected to double by this summer, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Owners Jacob and Alexandra Cohen have signed leases to open four new locations, including two in Philadelphia. The two new Philly locations will be located in Chestnut Hill and Manayunk, respectively.
While most of the new locations will be luncheonette-style with dine-in and takeout options, the new Manayunk location will be a bagel shop, to the same degree as the Fishtown and Rittenhouse Square locations. There is also a location at Reading Terminal Market.
The new Chestnut Hill location will take the former space of Roller’s Express-O, which has been closed for almost eight years.
“We went to Chestnut Hill in August, and looked in the window,” said Jacob Cohen. “We knew it had been empty a long time, and it really fit our luncheonette vibe to a tee.”
The two other leases the Cohens signed are both located in New Jersey — Collingswood and Ventnor, to be exact.
The New Jersey locations are expected to open first in the spring, while the Philly locations are expected to open in the summer.
