There are roadblocks that need to come down if a court-imposed April 1 deadline is to be met on a deal to keep two Crozer Health hospitals, Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital, open, according to a lawyer representing Delaware County.
Tobey Daluz of the Philadelphia law firm Ballard, Spahr told U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Stacey Jernigan Wednesday that Prospect Medical Holdings, owner of Crozer Health, has to provide more financial information, writes Harold Brubaker for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Prospect filed for bankruptcy protection in January and has talked about closing the two hospitals.
“We can’t share more publicly now, but we did want to make your honor aware that we are facing challenges, and we truly hope to be able to move forward on the timeline that’s been established by the court and the debtors,” Daluz said.
A hearing that would OK the sale of Crozer Health to an unidentified buyer is set for Tuesday, April 1.
There are no specifics yet on a new owner or ownership model.
Prospect attorney Bill Curtin described a partnership between Delaware County and Penn with support from other parties, but Penn has said it is not interested in acquiring Crozer Health.
