Prospect to Sell Crozer Health to Nonprofit Healthcare Consortium

Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland would be part of the sale of Crozer Health to a consortium.

Prospect Medical Holdings Inc. announced Friday that a Crozer Health sale to an as-yet-unnamed not-for-profit consortium of health care operators could finalize Feb. 6, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

The sale would include hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, clinics, and physician offices.

“By selling Crozer Health to a group of experienced health care operators, the communities in and around Delaware County will continue to access and receive the critical health care services they require,” said Crozer Health CEO Tony Esposito.

“We appreciate the support of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as all parties involved, to make this transition possible,” he added.

Crozer Health employees were notified by email Friday afternoon about the sale.

Esposito said in the email the goal was to close the proposed sale “on or about Feb. 6.”

Crozer Health owner Prospect Medical Holdings, currently in bankruptcy proceedings, said it would file documentation related to the sale in federal bankruptcy court and seek its approval for the sale at a Feb. 6 hearing.

“Our current operations are continuing uninterrupted, and patient care and services remain unchanged,” Esposito wrote, including physician and health care provider training, and maintaining support for community programs.
