If you’ve done the traditional cheesesteak and hoagie route and want something different, visit Wolf’s Superior Sandwiches, a recent arrival on Eagle Road in Havertown, reports Bob Kelly for Kelly’s Drive at Fox 29.

It’s Dan Wolf’s second location after his original Aston opened in 2018.

Wolf has taken the world of sandwiches and turned it sideways, with unique combinations of original sandwiches never before seen.

There’s a scrapple cheesesteak known as The Gritty and the Will Smith sandwich, made with chicken Tikka masala, homemade pickles, red onion, Roma tomatoes, mayo and cooper sharp cheese on a garlic bread roll.

“Whenever something happens in pop culture or a current event, I try and tie it into here,” Wolf said. “When I honor somebody with a sandwich I try to make it something they would want to eat so Will Smith’s favorite food is chicken Tikka masala, Indian food, so this is a chicken Tikka masala tie in with the Philly reference.”

And for a unique holiday offering, try the cheesesteak with a slice of pumpkin pie thrown in, topped with whipped cream.

Wolf admits it’s his weirdest creation to date.

“That’s why we’re the often imitated, never duplicated kings of creativity.”
