Bryn Mawr billionaire and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin talks about his favorite Main Line memory and offers advice to young entrepreneurs.

Bryn Mawr billionaire Michael Rubin started his first business at 12, tuning skis in the basement of his parents’ Lafayette Hill home, writes Gina Lizzo for the Main Line Today.

Today, he is the founder and CEO of Fanatics, a constantly growing licensed sports merchandise brand. He also launched REFORM Alliance with rap superstars Meek Mill and Jay-Z, which works with the criminal justice system on eradicating outdated parole and probation laws.

Most recently, he opened a Fanatics Sportsbook gaming and bar experience in Atlantic City, at Ocean Casino Resort.

However the entrepreneur still fondly recalls his first gambling experience, considering it his favorite memory from the Main Line.

“I remember sneaking off when I was 12 years old into an Atlantic City casino – I think it was Caesars,” he recalled. “I won $2,500. I called home from a payphone and said, ‘Mom, I’ve got great news. I just won $2,500.’ She said, ‘How?’ I said, ‘I’m in a casino in Atlantic City.’ She goes, ‘You’re grounded. Get home now.’”

Rubin has simple but effective advice for young entrepreneurs.

“Never give up,” he said. “Outhustle everyone. Outwork everyone.”
